Beaconway Kennels was established in 1991 with the purchase of my first Jack Russell Ch Chumcreek Jim's Idol (Ch Malung Jim Beam x Chumcreek Possum). "Tommy" was a magnificent ambassador and won many devotees for the breed. He won many Best exhibits in group as well as In Show awards. Was best exhibit Jack Russell Club of Victoria Championship Show on two occasions as well as Best of Breed at Melbourne, Sydney, and Hobart Royals. Sadly Tommy died at the early age of 5 years but Beaconway lines can be traced back to this wonderful dog.
We are a small kennel and only breed two to three Jack Russell litters per year. These litters are aimed at maintaining soundness and type and as most of the progeny will become a family pet, soundness of temperament is very important to us.
The litters are raised in a household environment, as opposed to a kennel situation, which ensures that all puppies are well socialised and have been exposed to plenty of stimuli ensuring a good attitude to most situations. Puppies are wormed regularly through their early weeks, and are vaccinated at 6 weeks as no puppy leaves us before he is 8 weeks old, ensuring that the vaccinations are active and the puppies are well socialised with other dogs.
Beaconway is situated on an 18 acre property at Tynong, about an hours drive from Melbourne and this means our Jack Russells are allowed a daily free run with the opportunity to hunt which enables them to still use their inborn instincts. Even the current show dogs are allowed to enjoy the daily terrorising of the rabbit population.
Over the years Beaconway has produced several champions Jack Russells and prior to breeding Jack Russells I bred Irish and Gordon Setters so have many years experience in the canine world.
One of the most notable Beaconway Jack Russells is AUST/SWD/NOR/IT/INT CHAMPION
BEACONWAY SCOTCH N COKE. Before leaving for Sweden "Scottie" was Best Exhibit In Show Jack Russell Terrier Club of Victoria Championship Show July 2001.
He also won many Age in Group awards
and has progeny that won in Group & In Show awards.
"Scottie" travelled to Sweden late July 2003, for stud and show and to add his qualities to the growing Jack Russell lines in that country. He certainly did this and to date his show career has been spectacular.
He is being shown in Scandanavia and obtained his Swedish title in the first two months, and the others titles were quick to follow ! He was accompanied to Sweden by AUST/SWED. CHAMPION BEACONWAY HOT TO TROT who has also made her mark in the show ring as well as the whelping box with spectacular puppies already winning, and among the top Jack Russells in Scandinavia.
